Well, this is it! The last night before our Whitney hike. We've definitely slacked off on the blog posts and keeping you up to speed w/ our training and pictures. BUT, this is what it all comes down to. In 9 hours from now, we'll be hopping in the car, driving the 25 minutes up to Whitney Portal, and the hike begins.
Start time: 2:00am on Wed, 24 Aug 2011
Beginning Elevation: 8,374 feet
Ending Elevation: 14,508 feet
22 Miles Round Trip
End time: Who knows!!!!!
We can't wait to share this experience with you. Probably won't be right when we get down, as we'll be exhausted!!! But soon :)
Please wish us luck!!! Here we go!!!
If you look at the 3 sharp points in center, count 1, 2, 3 from the left - the 3rd one on the right (the highest) is the summit! Whooohoooo

Looking Ahead
Happy Belated 4th Blogger Friends, hope yours was fantastic!
Sorry we disappeared the past couple of weeks: Tracy was on travel in Paris, Kerry was on "no working out" orders while nursing a foot injury, and Cheryl trained by herself but it was too boring to talk about on here.
But, we started to get our groove back this weekend... sort of...

"Light" Training
Hello friends!
While hiking 16+ miles in 2 days is no "light" weekend, we removed some of the intensity of the training, and it made for an interesting difference.

Hello blog friends...
We wrapped up another exciting weekend of hikes. On Friday, Kerry was called into work (boooo), so Tracy and Cheryl hit up Iron Mtn in Poway. It was a fast hike, around 6 miles that we finished in less than 2 hours and burned just under 1000 calories. It was our first non-sunny day...a little cool with a light mist. At the peak we could see as far as the picnic table, which was about 20 feet away. Still made for a lovely short day hike.

Slacking....
Well, we've been slacking in updating the blog, but certainly not in our training. Busy lives...busy schedules...blog seems to come last (sorry blog!). But, we've had some great fun over the past couple of weeks and we've added some new photo albums to share the fun with you!

Memorial Day Weekend
Big weekend coming up ~
Luckily, Memorial Day Weekend falls on an off-Friday for us, so we'll be taking advantage of the 4-day weekend to hike, hike, hike!
Yesterday we enjoyed some stair training (followed by a yummy dinner) and tomorrow we'll venture up Mt Woodson again from the 67.
We're taking Friday off to accomplish some errand-ly items. On Saturday, we'll head out for a long hike in the Cleveland National Forest - hopefully seeing some waterfalls in Kitchen Creek and then we'll jump on the Pacific Crest Trail for a bit. Sunday we plan on doing a shorter local hike...not sure where yet. And on Monday we'll head out to Mission Trails for another long hike. It's supposed to be partly cloudy thru-out the weekend, hopefully only while we hiking!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend and stay tuned...

Last Week
Hey everyone, We had some great hikes last week!
Kerry & Cheryl hiked Mt Woodson from Hwy 67 on Thursday. It's a paved hike, but it is no joke. There are no plateaus so you just keep going up and up. The hike started out on a great note as we took a wrong turn. In trying to get on the right path, Cheryl got caught climbing thru a fence...hello - deer in headlights! Got a little rip in the pants, but the gentlemen in the car had a good laugh about it with us.

The Journey Begins
Welcome to our blog! This is the first of many posts over the next few months and we are so excited!!!
A little about us: Tracy, Kerry, Cheryl and Leigh-Ann are friends and co-workers who decided to take a little adventure. We will be hiking Mt. Whitney in CA the last week of August. It's a 1-day ascent to the highest summit in the contiguous US - 14,505 feet. The hike is 22 miles round trip and we will climb over 6,100 feet to the top. Training is our top priority and the reason for this blog. We want to share the adventures with you!
